Quoting

At times a customer wants a quote provided for simple service work. While we do provide quotes for what we classify as “large projects” such as Solar System installs or a full roof service, we no longer provide quotes for service call work. We understand some customers may wish to know the cost of service before committing and we understand this. However, due to the nature of the RV beast, we have, through experience learned that what at first may seem a simple “fix” during the initial communication ends up turning into a 4 hour job (think tracking down an electrical problem). In such an instance, a customer who thought it would be a 30 minute charge based on a quote is now very upset that the bill is 3.5 hours more.

In far too many instances wherein we have tried to provide a customer a quote for the work prior to showing up, we have found problems to be much more complex, requiring much more time than originally thought. This is common with many RV repair issues. As such, we are no longer providing quotes for RV Repair service calls.

I have established this baseline which is communicated here and one that Joelle will also advise customers of when they ask “About how much will this cost"?

Here is the simple answer.

The base cost to get me to your location, will be $175 within a 30 mile radius. I work by the hour, work as efficiently as possible without rushing (to insure your personal safety once the repairs are finished) and work until I am done.

With many jobs, as you note in the fixed pricing, I have a general idea of the cost, but even there, it can and sometimes will edge higher, although it will at times run lower.

One other item of importance. I have learned through experience to always quote HIGH on job requests. I quote VERY high on all estimates because I’d rather be able to LOWER your final invoice when done than have to charge more than the initial quote because it goes longer. I have a general idea of pricing on most items but again, RV’s tend to present unique situations and problems and sometimes these can create longer job times.

I hope this helps explain our process related to quoting work and repair estimates.
